When I sat down to write my editorial videoblog this month, my mind, uncharacteristically, was a blank. The page before me remained empty. I looked at the astrology chart I’d cast for September, and although I’ll have a lot to say about that in my Predictions for this month, it gave me no inspiration for my editorial. I asked myself ‘why’ I felt so uninspired, and I realized it’s because like many of you reading this, I am generally in a state of waiting, and that’s not a place of inspiration. It’s difficult to move on with your plans and your dreams, when you don’t know what shape the world you live in is going to take a few months from now.
So, I looked to my tarot cards for inspiration, and I drew a King of Swords. For me, that will define the month of September. It’s fitting, because September brings in the sign Libra, which is one of the signs we associate with the suit of Swords. It reminded me that the Fall Equinox, that occurs when the Sun enters the sign Libra, is on September 21st this year.
This month is important, my friends. Often, there is action in inaction. As those of us who are in waiting look forward to the eventual fulfillment of our dreams and goals, we find ourselves holding on to people and things, and old ways of looking at them, with less and less attachment. It’s as if those things that we based our very identity on, no longer have the same significance. Maybe they just don’t even matter anymore more. We can look at our life as if it is a beautifully patterned carpet that has, until now, withstood the test of time…but now we see those threadbare patches, the faded areas where the pattern is no longer discernible. Yes, it’s time to move on. But to what?
As the old fades away and reshapes itself through the benefit of hindsight, we are actually in a better place to launch our future endeavors. Free of baggage, inured to the shock of having so many of our beliefs shattered, we have a chance to alter our trajectory forward, avoiding pitfalls we surely would have suffered had our world-view not shifted.
The Fall Equinox is associated with the harvest cycle in farm-based cultures. So, it’s time for us to harvest the best of what we’ve created in our lives, and either store it away for a future where it will be needed, or use it to build that special something that we are holding in our hearts, waiting for the time to be right to take that next step.
There is a certain stillness you will find within yourself right now, as you stand upon the eroding landscape of your life, knowing that it is your inner strength, the partnerships you’ve created, the dreams you still cling to, and a sense of inner commitment to whatever path you’ve chosen to follow, that will lead you forward.
I believe that for all of us it will soon be time to take action, to leave our reverie behind, and to move forward with haste, to create the life of our dreams. Soon, we will all be grateful that we had this time for deliberation, for filtering, for getting in touch with ourselves, and with those things that are most important to us.
The King of Swords is a chess player, a planner, a person with a powerful mind and a strong social support circle. He is a leader. He may stand alone, but he never forgets his true partner(s). He is like a coiled spring. We find him still and silent amidst great change and frenzied activity, awaiting the moment to expose his intent, to act on his plans and dreams. We can trust in him, because his timing is impeccable and his planning without fault.
Love and Light,
Sandy Anastasi
