Sandy's March 2019 Editorial

Hello Everyone,

People often ask me how I first got into doing psychic readings. I can do future oriented astrology, tarot, numerology, runes, channeled and Guided readings, mediumship, even palmistry and tea leaf readings.

Yet I started out not even realizing I was psychic. I believe that studying and working with all of these tools helped my psychic ability to develop. Today I can do a reading with no tools at all, just reading the energy or channeling the information from my Guides and my client's Guides. But I still love these amazing tools, especially tarot cards.

My students are often surprised when I tell them that the first 'tool' I picked up and learned to read with was the tarot. Because of that, the tarot will always be near and dear to my heart.

I actually learned the tarot from a one-night lecture in which the speaker flashed all 78 tarot cards and gave a simple meaning for each card. I recorded the lecture, a habit of mine, and in the ensuing days played the recording through a couple of times. For some reason it stuck in my mind. I didn't believe in the cards back then. In fact, I didn't believe I was psychic. But playing with the cards was fun and reading them came very easily to me. So they became my favorite party game.
I'd carry the deck with me in my purse, and on work breaks or when we'd meet for drinks after work I'd ask my friends if they wanted me to read their cards. To me it was just for fun and I never expected anyone to take it seriously.

You can imagine my surprise when people began coming back to me and asking me for the next installment in their lives. Frankly, I thought they were nuts. After all, it was just a party game, and it was just for fun. I didn't believe them when they told me the stuff I told them was happening. That is, until I told one gal that if she kept seeing a particular guy she would get pregnant, and she did. That was definitely incontrovertable evidence.

It was a major turning point for me. I still didn't think of myself as psychic.

Therefore, I told myself, the cards themselves must somehow be able to predict the future. I studied, and researched, and thought long and hard about that.

What I finally came up with is, the pictures on the tarot deck I used (which incidentally is called the Rider-Waite Deck) are based on universal archetypes which we all unconscously know. So when my friends shuffled the cards they unconsciously put them into an order that allowed me to read them, as I had brought those archetypes to conscious awareness through my studies.

That still didn't allow for their ability to predict the future though. So with a small stretch of the imagination, I concluded that on a subconscious level my friends knew where their current actions would lead them, which accounted for the cards ability to predict the future. I still think much of that thinking is true, though there is far more to it than that.

Meanwhile, I chalked up the accuracy of my readings to the cards. But something interesting began to happen over time. First, my readings became deeper, more complete, and still more accurate. Then I began to talk about things that were definitely not in the pictures on the cards, but that were also accurate. Eventually the pictures on the cards began to reshape themselves into different pictures that gave more information, and I began to receive even more information still through my other senses - all stimulated from looking at the cards.

I realized that something interesting was happening. The cards were able to predict the future all by themselves, so I didn't have to be psychic to use them. However, with frequent use, they were stimulating and helping to develop my psychic ability. The more I worked with them, the more my own psychic faculties were opening up.

Today the tarot is not only one of my own favorite psychic tools to read with, it's also a tool I recommend to anyone who wants to develop their psychic ability, to learn. It's easy. It's fun. It's amazing what you can learn about yourself too, while you are learning to read the cards.

From the tarot I went on to study a host of other tools and concepts in the metaphysical field. I became insatiable. My thirst for occult knowledge (that means hidden, by the way) seemed unending. It still is.

So you could say that the tarot is really what launched my career as a psychic, and as a teacher too!

Love and Light,
Sandy Anastasi
