This deck is about self-care, encouragement, and motivation, combining beautiful photographs by Ukranian photographer and artist Viktoriia Shepelevvch, with great affirmations for all of us, by author Milana Leshinsky. 

I followed Milana while she was developing this deck to help her artist friend and the people of Ukraine, and I heard her back-story.  I was so moved by her account of the Ukrainian peoples struggles right now, as they try to feed their families and survive this terrible time, that I offered to share her card deck link on Etsy, where she’s listed it for sale. I am receiving nothing back for this. This is what led Milana to create her wonderful card deck – in her own words:

“I am a Ukrainian-American who immigrated in 1992. I had no idea that 30 years later I’d be watching my homeland go up in flames on TV.  Hearing the eye-witness accounts from my friends and family in Ukraine has been heartbreaking.  Their stories have brought the harsh reality of this war to life, and like many, I spent the first weeks of the war crying from the shock and disbelief.  But then something unexpected happened.  I began to notice my friend Viktoriia, a talented photographer based in Kyiv, sharing stunning photos of Ukraine on Facebook.  Amidst the chaos, fear and pain, she managed to capture moments of beauty and joy.  I was deeply moved by her ability to find light in the darkest of times.

This inspired me to collaborate with Viktoriia and create something truly special - the "Heart of Ukraine Project" card deck. It's a collection of her breathtaking photos, combined with uplifting messages that reflect the strength and resilience of the Ukrainian people.

When I witnessed Viktoriia's photos capturing extraordinary beauty during such difficult times, I felt an overwhelming sense of awe. It’s incredible how she can find such beauty amidst fear and uncertainty. This admiration inspired me to launch the "Heart of Ukraine Project," inviting you to experience Ukraine through the eyes of a photographer capturing not just images, but the soul of a nation.
