Psychic Development Tip #17 - Progressive Relaxation and Your Worry Box

Psychic Development Tip #  17    - Progressive Relaxation and Your Worry Box

Every good psychic development teacher will tell you that developing your intuitive and psychic skills begins with meditation.  You already know from some of my earlier Psychic Development Tips that meditation develops your focus, gives you the ability to still your mind so that you are able to recognize the psychic impulses you are receiving without it’s constant interruption, and ultimately even gives you powerful control over your mind’s functions.  For more on meditation see my Psychic Development Tips #4, 5, and 10.

In spite of this understanding, meditation continues to be a stumbling block for beginning level meditators and psychics.

This tip about progressive relaxation and using a ‘worry box’ is going to help!

First, let me help you create your ‘worry box’.  Contemplate the following description first, then close your eyes and do it!

Imagine a box.  Any box will do.  It can be one you own, or one you have seen somewhere, or even one you create or one that just pops into your mind.  That is my favorite.  The one that my subconscious gives me that is simply ‘there’ when I close my eyes.  Now open your worry box, and take the next few moments to put all of your cares, worries, aches and pains, irritating people and situations, negative attitudes and memories, even your whole physical body if you want, into the box.  When you are done, close the lid securely, lock it if you want, and then slide it around behind you where you can’t see it.

Do a self-check.  I call that ‘taking your temperature’ psychically.  Don’t you feel lighter?  Less stressed?  More relaxed?

I use my worry box before I go to sleep at night, whenever I need to clear my mind before an event or project that needs my total focus, and certainly before I begin my morning meditation.

Once I’ve used my worry box, I start my progressive relaxation with three great breaths just as I showed you in my last Psychic Development Tip.  Those great breaths ground and center me.  At that point I am ready to do my progressive relaxation, and then finally my meditation.  Initially I tell my students their PR will take about 20 minutes and their meditation a mere 5 or 10 minutes.  With practice, the PR will take 5 minutes and you’ll get 25 minutes of good, deep meditation.  That half hour of time will help every day be a good day, and will be the foundation for your psychic development as well.

If you already have a progressive relaxation (PR) technique you’ve learned in your Yoga or other class, go ahead and use that.  Your body is used to it and so will respond well.  I teach my students a 10-point PR that begins by relaxing the mind, then the rest of the body follows.  In fact, with my words I actually have your mind take charge of relaxing your body.  It’s very effective!  For an in-depth description of the PR I teach to my students please refer to my Psychic Development Tip #10.

Begin enjoying deeper, more successful meditations now, and don’t forget to use your worry box often to clear and relax your mind!
