Hello Everyone,

     This is my favorite time of year, as I look forward to fall and its succession of celebrations that lead us into Christmas and the New Year.

     The first three quarters of 2023 have been difficult and stressful for all of us, so like most of you, I am looking forward to happier times.  This year I am planning on making the holiday season extra special for myself, my small family, and my friends.  I have already pulled all of my fall decorations from my storage unit, and put them up.  It’s amazing how much lighter I felt after doing that.  As each decoration came out of its box or bag, I felt myself embrace the memory associated with it.  Some were happy, some bittersweet, some sad.

     Many of the people I have celebrated with in bygone years are gone now.  One of the special ways I can bring them to mind and enjoy their presence once again is through those decorations.

We’ve got a lot happening this month in the sky, folks.  My predictions this month are for everyone.  I’m going to be talking about how this month’s transits will affect us all.

     First off, the outer, slower moving planets are all retrograde right now, and so is Venus.  All those retrogrades make for a lot of introspection.  They slow things down.  They help you sort things out.  They bring back past issues from the beginning of the year that you may have failed to deal with, or that you would like to have a better outcome.  Now is the time you might make that happen.

July promises to be an exciting month, folks.  As we begin the month most of the outer planets are retrograde, and Pluto is just retrograding back into Capricorn for ‘last licks’.  It’s going to make sure, between now and when it goes direct again on October 12^th, that we have all learned our Capricorn lessons that began in 2008.      As I was reaching for inspiration to write my editorial this month my attention was drawn to a copy of “The Circle of Fire” by Don Miguel Ruiz, which, by the way, I highly recommend.  It’s a short inspirational book with great depth that helps to open your awareness. 

    I often open this book myself to find peace in its passages.  On this occasion my gaze fell upon a segment where he is speaking about your body being a collection of cells that are reminiscent of the stars in the heavens, and just as the stars are separated by space, so your individual cells are separated by space.  He talks about love and life force being the energy in that space between the cells, and the interconnectedness that both makes us whole, seeking unity, but also divides us, so that we can see ourselves. There is great wisdom in this book, and also insights that can be pondered and thought upon for a lifetime.

Asking questions is one of my personal favorite uses for the Tarot. 

     The simplest way to do this, for the beginner, is to simply hold a yes or no question in your mind, shuffle the cards well, reversing them as you shuffle so that they will be both right side up and reversed when pulled from the deck, then fan the deck out on the reading table, and pull one card from the fan, turning it face up on the table before you.

     If the card is right side up, your answer is yes.  If it’s reversed, your answer is no.

     You can use this simple technique for both yourself and for other people.  If you are reading for yourself and wish a little more insight, consult the meaning of the card in its reversed or upright position in your favorite tarot book, such as my own “The Tarot Reader’s Workbook”.  Resist the desire to add your own input, or you will likely muddy your answer.  But if you are reading for another person, you can both consult the book meaning and also ‘intuit’ whatever p...
